Bruins in day 2 of NHL draft

Today was day 2 of the 2010 NHL entry draft and the Bruins made the following picks (more info about each player below):
  1. Forward Jared Knight (Round 2, 32nd overall), 5'11", 186lbs
  2. Forward Ryan Spooner (Round 2, 45th overall), 5'10", 172lbs
  3. Forward Craig Cunningham (Round 4, 97th overall), 5'10", 184lbs
  4. Forward Justin Florek (Round 5, 135th overall), 6'4", 194lbs
  5. Goalie Zane Gothberg (Round 6, 165th overall), 6'1", 177lbs
  6. Defenseman Maxim Chudinov (Round 7, 195th overall), 5'11", 187lbs
  7. Defenseman Zach Trotman (Round 7, 210th overall), 6'4", 202lbs

The Bruins also traded their 7th round pick in this year's draft to the Chicago Blackhawks for the 210th overall pick in this year's draft.

With their first pick in the second round (32nd overall), the Bruins selected forward Jared Knight from the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The 18-year-old Battle Creek, Michigan native stands 5'11", 186 lbs. and tallied 36 goals and 21 assists for 57 points last season for the Knights while appearing in 63 games.

With their second pick in the second round (45th overall), the Bruins selected forward Ryan Spooner from the Peterborough Petes of the OHL. The 5'10", 172-pound Kanata, Ontario native played in only 47 regular season games last season for the Petes after suffering a broken collarbone on January 23. The 18-year-old Spooner recorded 19-35=54 totals.

With their fourth round pick (97th overall) the Bruins selected forward Craig Cunningham of the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The 19-year-old native of Trail, British Columbia skated in 72 games for the Giants in 2009-2010, posting 37-60=97 totals and 44 penalty minutes.

With their fifth round pick (135th overall) the Bruins selected forward Justin Florek from Northern Michigan University. During the 2009-2010 season, he posted 12-23=35 totals in 41 games during his second year with the Wildcats, upping his career totals to 21 goals and 31 assists for 52 points. The 20-year-old weighs in at 194 pounds and stands 6'4".

With their sixth round pick (165th overall) the Bruins selected goalie Zane Gothberg from Thief River Falls (Minnesota) High School. The 6'1", 177-pound goaltender appeared in 25 games last season for his hometown school, recording three shutouts on his way to a 1.84 goals against average and .922 save percentage.

With their first pick in the seventh round (195th overall) the Bruins selected defenseman Maxim Chudinov, of the Cherepovets Severstal in Russia of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The 5'11", 187-pound native of Cherepovets, Russia scored his first career points with Cherepovets last year, registering 6-7=13 totals in 47 games, adding 30 penalty minutes.

With their second pick in the seventh round (210th overall) the Bruins selected defenseman Zach Trotman of Lake Superior State College. The 6'4", 202-pound native of Novi, Michigan played in his freshman season last year for the Lakers, registering 2-6=8 totals in 36 games.
