Bruins sign Reich and obtain draft pick

Besides the Paille signing, not much else happened for the Bruins today. With defenseman Derek Morris resigning with the Phoenix Coyotes, the Bruins obtained a 2011 third-round pick from the Coyotes. The Bruins would have got Phoenix's fourth- round pick if Morris signed elsewhere.

Former Bruin Jeremy Reich has signed a one-year two-way contract with the Bruins.

Through 2006-08, Reich appeared in 90 games for the Bruins, scoring two goals and three assists while recording 141 penalty minutes. In 2008-09, Reich was the Providence captain, where he mentored youngsters such as Brad Marchand.

I think this is mainly a depth move by the Bruins. Reich can play both center and wing and brings toughness to the lineup, we all know that, seeing him with the Bruins a few years ago. I mainly remember him giving it to Adam Mair of the Sabres, getting some revenge for his late hit on David Krejci. Reich reminds me of Steve Begin somewhat, as he can penalty kill and take faceoffs. If the Bruins can't sign Gregory Campbell to a deal then look for Reich to take that fourth line center spot. But I'm expecting they will sign Campbell and Reich will start the year in Providence and come up if needed to fill in for an injury.

Chiarelli has told Miroslav Satan and Steve Begin that they won't be resigned as they're looking for other younger options.
