Bruins sign Wyatt Smith

With Trent Whitfield going down with an injured Achilles tendon, the Bruins have signed forward Wyatt Smith to a one-year contract. He'll fill the role in Providence that Whitfield would have had. Smith has 211 career NHL games under his belt, while playing with the Phoenix Coyotes, Nashville Predators, New York Islanders, Minnesota Wild, and Colorado Avalanche (source: Boston.com).
