Bruins recall Matt Bartkowski on emergency basis

On Sunday the Bruins recalled defenseman Matt Bartkowski on an emergency basis from Providence (AHL) (source). The Bruins also placed defenseman Mark Stuart on injured reserve.

Adam McQuaid was given a maintenance day for an unspecified injury or illness (source above). So we can assume that McQuaid has some kind of injury and Bartkowski will take his place in the lineup on Monday against the Penguins. Remember McQuaid only played 4:51 in the game against Montreal. If Bartkowski plays Monday night, it will be his first NHL game.

Monday's game will also be Marc Savard's first game against cheapshot artist Matt Cooke. Does anyone expect anything to happen? I don't think Savard will challenge Cooke to fight but you never know in situations like this one. What would you do if someone almost not only ended your hockey career but possibly messed up your head forever and you met them later on? That's a tough question for anyone to answer.
