Bruins make minor trade

On Sunday the Bruins made a minor trade, trading forward tough guy Brian McGrattan and defenseman Sean Zimmerman to the Anaheim Ducks for forwards David Lailberte and Stefan Chaput. Laliberte and Chaput will both go to Providence (AHL).

I'm disappointed we didn't get to see McGrattan up with the Bruins during the season, but he wasn't really needed. From this trade the Bruins are giving away lots of size and getting smaller players. Just from looking at the stats, it looks like the players the Bruins received will mainly be AHL players.

Laliberte, a 6'1", 198-lb native of St. Liboire, Quebec, has 8-10=18 totals and 52 PIM in 49 games with the Syracuse Crunch and Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL.

The 22-year-old Chaput has 3-7=10 totals and 15 PIM in 47 games with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch and Charlotte Checkers. The 6'0", 192-lb native of Montreal, Quebec, has yet to appear in an NHL game.

McGrattan, 29, has 4-1=5 totals and 97 PIM in 39 games with Providence (AHL) this season.

The 6'3", 205-lb Zimmerman has 0-4=4 totals and 23 PIM in 30 games with Providence and Rochester (AHL) this season.
