Sharks shutout Bruins 2-0

The Bruins couldn't get a puck past Sharks goalie Antti Niemi and standout rookie Logan Couture scored a power-play goal in the first period as that's all the Sharks would need to go onto a 2-0 win over the Bruins. The Sharks did a good job not giving the Bruins any real great scoring chances throughout the game. The Sharks second goal was an empty goal by Devin Setoguchi to seal the deal.

The Bruins led the game in shots 26-17. The Sharks led the game in faceoff wins 23-21.

Tim Thomas was in net and made 16 saves on 17 shots. With the loss, Thomas is now 25-6-6, with a 1.80 GAA, and a .945 save percentage.

Notes from the game
In the first period, Adam McQuaid dropped the gloves with Ben Eager and they exchanged a few punches but it looked like Eager was the only one to land a punch in the fight. Later in the game McQuaid challenged Eager to fight again after Eager hit McQuaid from behind into the boards but Eager declined.

Ex-Bruin Joe Thornton had 0 points, 0 shots, 2 PIMs, and a game-high 6 hits.

The Bruins power-play looked awful. But I think it was also the Sharks penalty killing that made it look bad as well.

Call-up Zach Hamill played in his second career NHL game and had 10:35 of ice time and didn't really do much in the game (0 shots). Hamill played on the third line with Blake Wheeler and Michael Ryder.

Tyler Seguin had 8:57 of ice time and played on the fourth line with Shawn Thornton and Gregory Campbell.

Onto the next one
The Bruins next game is against the Montreal Canadiens in Boston on Wednesday, February 9th.
