Bruins beat Lightning, win 7th straight

Last night the Bruins took on the Tampa Bay Lightning, who had the same record as the Bruins fighting for second place overall in the Eastern Conference. The Bruins came out on top in a 2-1 win that now puts the Bruins two points above the Lightning in the conference and three points below the Philadelphia Flyers.

In the second period, Steve Kampfer scored his 5th goal of the season to tie the game 1-1. In the third period, Milan Lucic scored his 28th goal of the season to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead. That lead would hold and the Bruins would win 2-1.

Tim Thomas played in net for the Bruins and made 27 saves on 28 shots. Thomas is now 29-8-6, with a 1.95 GAA, and a .940 save percentage.

Both teams finished the game with 28 shots, 24 faceoff wins, and 7 blocked shots each. The Bruins led the game in hits 26-16.

Some notes from the game
Defenseman Andrew Ference was again out of the lineup with a lower body injury.

Tyler Seguin was a healthy scratch.

Lucic dropped the gloves with Eric Brewer and handled him pretty good. Watch it here.

Lightning's Dominic Moore gets 5-stars for his diving performance.

Steve Kampfer now has a mild concussion from a big hit he took from Mattias Ritola (video of the hit).

Rich Peverley was 5-1 in the faceoff circle. Nice.

Johnny Boychuk had a game-high 5 hits.

As of right now, Bruins rookie defenseman Adam McQuaid leads the NHL in +/- with a +27 rating. Yes he doesn't play against the number one lines from opponents but I still think that is impressive.

Onto the next one
The Bruins next game is against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Both Kampfer (concussion) and Patrice Bergeron (personal reasons) will miss Saturday's game against the Penguins.
