Bruins blow lead and lose 4th straight

I don't know if it was because it was their third game in four nights but for the most part the Bruins looked sluggish and tired at times. The first line of Milan Lucic, Nathan Horton, and David Krejci had the best chances but it wasn't enough as the Bruins dropped their fourth straight game, losing 4-2 to the Islanders.

In the first period, Nathan Horton scored his 20th goal of the season off a nice pass from Milan Lucic.

In the second period, Zdeno Chara scored his 12th goal of the season, it was a power-play goal. The Bruins had a two-goal lead, just like last night, and they lost it just like last night as the Islanders scored a power-play goal with two seconds left in the second period to make it 2-1 Bruins.

In the third period, the Islanders scored three unanswered goals (the last one being an automatic empty net goal after Patrice Bergeron tripped up the Islander going for the empty net).

Tim Thomas was in net and made 38 saves on 41 shots. Thomas is now 29-9-8, with a 2.03 GAA, and a .938 save percentage.

The Islanders led the game in shots 41-28. The Bruins went 1 for 3 on the power-play, finally scoring a power-play goal. The Bruins led in faceoff wins 35-27. The Islanders led in hits 19-16. Both teams had 24 blocked shots.

Some notes from the game
The Bruins used the same lineup as last night.

Chara had a strong game, playing well defensively (even though he was a -1) and scoring a goal in 27:31 of ice time. There were boos from the crowd throughout the game when Chara had the puck.

You don't say this often but Patrice Bergeron had a bad game, going 12-12 in the faceoff circle and was a -2.

Tomas Kaberle got his first power-play point as a Bruin, an assist from the Chara goal. Finally. He was also a -1 with 5 blocked shots.

Adam McQuaid had 7 blocked shots in the game. Two of those came on a power-play where they looked to really sting him. Hopefully he is ok from blocking those shots.

Onto the next one
The Bruins next game is on Tuesday, March 15th at the Columbus Blue Jackets.
