The Bruins came out slow and seemed to be not really into the game tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. But as the game went on the Bruins got it together and sent the game into overtime. Then eventually the game went to a shootout where Tyler Seguin, who only played 9:57 during the game, scored the only shootout goal. Tuukka Rask would stop every chance against him for the Bruins to win 3-2 against the Blue Jackets to stop their 4-game losing streak.

In the first period, rookie Grant Clitsome scored for the Jackets to make it 1-0. Yes that is his real last name, no joke. I can only imagine what opponents say during games to him.

In the second period, David Krejci scored his 11th goal of the season to tie the game. It was originally thought that Zdeno Chara's shot went in the net without a redirection but I guess it somehow touched Krejci.

In the third period, Bruins killer Scottie Upshall scored to make it 2-1 Jackets. Later, Rich Peverley scored his 16th goal of the season on a great individual effort and move to score a shorthanded goal, tying the game 2-2.

And as I said previously Seguin scored the only goal in the shootout and Rask stopped every shot against him for the Bruins to win. It looked like Seguin was going to do his usual fake and shoot on the backhand. Steve Mason fell for it as Seguin then went back to his forehand and put it passed Mason for the game winner.

Tuukka Rask played in net and made some great saves during the game and in the shootout. Rask made 34 saves on 36 shots.

The Blue Jackets led the game in shots 36-29 and hits 37-22. The Bruins led the game in faceoff wins 33-21. Both teams had 17 blocked shots.

The Bruins had 1 power-play compared to the Blue Jackets having 6 power-plays. The Bruins killed all of the power-plays but there were some questionable calls again tonight. I have a feeling this will continue for the rest of the season.

Some notes from the game
Michael Ryder was a healthy scratch and Tyler Seguin was in the lineup. Good thing Seguin was in.

Steve Kampfer was back in the lineup, coming back from a concussion.

Mark Recchi played in his 1,640th career NHL game, which put him passed former-Bruin Dave Andreychuk for 5th all-time on the list.

Blue Jackets rookie Matt Calvert is a diver. If that's what you want to be known for then keep doing what you're doing kid.

Update: Brad Marchand made contact with R.J. Umberger's head in what looked to be unintentional but look for the league to give him something for that, especially since all of the headshot talk.

Onto the next one
The Bruins next game is on Thursday at the Nashville Predators. The Bruins have to keep their heads up when Jordin Tootoo is on the ice.
