Bruins vs Flyers game 2 summary

Tim Thomas makes a save
PHILADELPHIA, PA - MAY 02: Tim Thomas #30 of the Boston Bruins stretches to make a save against James van Riemsdyk #21 of the Philadelphia Flyers in Game Two of the Eastern Conference Semifinals during the 2011 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at the Wells Fargo Center on May 2, 2011 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Bruins have to thank Tim Thomas for keeping them in this game as he was unbelievable as you could say that Thomas stole this game. Thomas made 52 saves on 54 shots earning the 3-2 win in overtime after David Krejci scored on a one-timer, receiving a pass from Nathan Horton and putting it past Flyers goalie Brian Boucher.

In the first period, the Flyers came out flying as James van Riemsdyk scored two goals. Later, Chris Kelly would score his 4th goal of the playoffs. Less than two minutes later, Brad Marchand scored his 4th goal of the playoffs to tie the game.

In the second period, no scoring happened. Brian Boucher would hurt his hand making a save on a Johnny Boychuk shot. Sergei Bobrovsky would come in and do well for the rest of the period.

In the third period, Boucher came back out to play the period. Again, no scoring happened.

In overtime, both teams had chances. Krejci would score the game winner at 14:00 of the overtime period to win the game for the Bruins.

Tim Thomas is now 6-3 with a 2.24 GAA and a .931 save percentage.

The Flyers led the game in shots 54-41, faceoff wins 33-28, and hits 39-21. The Bruins went 0 for 2 on the power-play while the Flyers went 1 for 4.

Notes from the game
There were way too many 2-on-1's for the Flyers in this one. The Bruins have got to be more careful when pinching in.

The Flyers are now going after Krejci and trying to make him take penalties and hit him whenever they can. In this game it was Kris Versteeg getting under the skin of Krejci.

Adam McQuaid got injured and had to be helped off the ice. He went for a big hit on Mike Richards and Richards moved out of the way and McQuaid went crashing head first into the boards behind Thomas. He looked shaken up and he did not return. I don't think you will see him back in game 3 but who knows. He was taken to a Philadelphia hospital and is said to be coming back with the Bruins to Boston.

Johnny Boychuk had a strong game despite being a -1. He led the Bruins with 5 hits, including a huge one laying out Braydon Coburn behind the Flyers net, and he had 7 shots.

Dennis Seidenberg was a +3 with 6 blocked shots. He led the Bruins in ice time with 36:26 (he led all players in the game as well).

Patrice Bergeron went 14-10 in the faceoff circle.

Flyers Chris Pronger did not play in this game.

Hours before game 2, some Flyers fans "dumped the 'Boston tea' into the not-very-salty Delaware River." Will some Bruins fans dump some philly cheesesteaks into the Boston Harbor on Wednesday? Hopefully there aren't Bruins fans that dumb.

Onto the next one
Game 3 is on Wednesday in Boston at 7pm ET. The Bruins lead this series 2-0.

I have a feeling the Bruins will go up 3-0 and then everyone will keep talking about last year and how the Flyers can come back. We'll see. This series has been played hard and physical. That's hockey.
