Bruins dominate Islanders, win 8th straight

The Bruins have now won 8 straight games since their back-to-back losses to Montreal, who they play next by the way, by beating the New York Islanders Saturday night 6-0 in a strong all-around performance. This was just a complete solid game by the Bruins. Here's the scoring summary.

In the first period, Patrice Bergeron scored his 4th goal of the season from a beautiful pass from Tyler Seguin. Later, Nathan Horton scored his 6th goal of the season, a power-play goal, on a strong wrist shot. Chris Kelly would score later, his 6th goal of the season to make it 3-0 Bruins.

In the second period, no scoring happened.

In the third period, Andrew Ference scored his 1st goal of the season to make it 4-0. Later, Chris Kelly scored his 2nd goal of the game, his 7th goal of the season, making it 5-0. Zdeno Chara would finish the scoring by scoring his 2nd goal of the season making it 6-0. Another six goal game for the Bruins and another win.

Game notes
The Bruins led the game in shots 30-23 and faceoff wins 42-26. The Islanders led the game in hits 28-18 and blocked shots 18-14. The Bruins went 1 for 4 on the power-play while the Islanders went 0 for 1.

With Johnny Boychuk back in the lineup, Steven Kampfer was a scratch.

Tim Thomas played in net and made some big saves when the Bruins needed him to. Thomas got his 2nd shutout of the season and is now 8-4 with a 1.92 GAA and a .932 save percentage this season.

Chris Kelly finished the game with 2 goals and 1 assist, +3 with 4 shots.

Joe Corvo was +4 and had 1 assist.

Gregory Campbell had a strong night in the faceoff circle going 12-2.

Brad Marchand had 2 assists and was +2.
