Bruins pick up 3 veterans at deadline

Today was the NHL trade deadline and Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli made two trades, bringing in three players while giving up no regularly-playing players.

The Bruins traded forward Yannick Riendeau and defenseman Marc Cantin to the New York Islanders for ex-Bruin forward Brian Rolston and defenseman Mike Mottau. Rolston has 4 goals, 5 assists, is -12, and has 6 PIMs in 49 games this season. Hopefully he still has something left to give to this Bruins team. I didn't like when the Bruins let him go and it's good to see him back, I just don't know if he's going to be able to produce much, but we'll see. Mottau has 0 goals, 2 assists, is -10, has 15 PIMs, 27 hits, and 42 blocked shots in 29 games this season. Mottau is coming back from a concussion after missing 26 games.

In the second trade, the Bruins traded defenseman Steven Kampfer to the Minnesota Wild for defenseman Greg Zanon. This season Zanon has 2 goals, 4 assists, is -1, 14 PIMs, 77 hits, and 104 blocked shots in 39 games this season. As you can tell by his stats, Zanon is a defensive defenseman.
