Another afternoon game loss for Bruins

I don't know what it is with the Bruins and afternoon games as they just don't seem to play their style during these games. Saturday afternoon the Washington Capitals jumped out to a 2-0 lead, then a 4-2 lead and then sat back and survived a 4-3 win over the Bruins.

Quick game summary
In the first period, the Capitals scored the first two goals making it 2-0. Milan Lucic scored his 23rd goal of the season with 6 seconds left in the period, making it 2-1.

In the second period, Brad Marchand scored his 23rd goal of the season to tie the game 2-2. The Capitals would answer back with two goals making it 4-2.

In the third period, Johnny Boychuk scored his 5th goal of the season, making it 4-3. The Bruins pulled Tim Thomas at the end but were unable to tie the game up.

Game notes
The Bruins led the game in shots 33-30, faceoff wins 30-27 and hits 30-16. The Capitals led the game in blocked shots 16-10.

Tim Thomas made 26 saves on 30 shots. Thomas is now 29-16-0 with a 2.33 GAA and a .924 save percentage so far this season.

Claude Julien dressed seven defensemen as Benoit Pouliot was unable to play. Mike Mottau played forward on the fourth line with Shawn Thornton and Gregory Campbell. Greg Zanon was back in the lineup on defense and took two minor penalties. Lane MacDermid was in the lineup again and played well despite being -1 and he drew two penalties. He had no dance partners to go with though.

Julien started the game out with Bergeron-Marchand-Rolston on the same line but realized it's just not working with Rolston. So Julien replaced Rolston with Jordan Caron and they had immediate impact as they got some scoring chances. Rolston just hasn't worked out so far. Patrice Bergeron was +3, Jordan Caron was +2 and Brad Marchand was +1.

Tyler Seguin and David Krejci were -2.

Zdeno Chara led the Bruins with 5 hits, including one that broke the glass.

Onto the next one
The Bruins are now 40-24-3 with 83 points. The Bruins next game is Sunday at the Pittsburgh Penguins at 12:30pm ET.
