A little more than three minutes later, Zdeno Chara scored his 10th goal of the season, a power-play goal, making it 6-0. Later in the period, Brian Rolston scored his 6th goal of the season, making it 7-0.
In the third period, with less than two minutes left in the game, Tyler Seguin scored his 26 goal of the season, making it 8-0. The "Thank you Kessel" chant would fill the Garden, and #ThankYouKessel would trend on Twitter as well.
Phil Kessel finished the game with 2 shots on net and a -2.
Tim Thomas played in net and stopped all 13 saves he faced, earning his 5th shutout of the season. Thomas is now 31-18-0 with a 2.41 GAA and a .919 save percentage this season.
