Bruins beat Senators 3-1 without key players

In what could have been a preview of the first round for the Bruins, tonight's game against Ottawa didn't have the intensity or Bruins players that would have been in a playoff game. As the Bruins scratched their key players: Tim Thomas, Zdeno Chara, and Patrice Bergeron, the Bruins were able to beat the Senators 3-1 with some great goaltending by call-up Anton Khudobin.

Quick game summary
In the first period, Benoit Pouliot scored his 16th goal of the season, to make it 1-0 Bruins.

In the second period, Greg Zanon scored his 3rd goal of the season, making it 2-0 Bruins. Later, Jason Spezza scored to make it 2-1.

In the third period, Milan Lucic scored his 26th goal of the season, making it 3-1 Bruins. Torey Krug got his 1st NHL point with an assist on Lucic's goal.

Anton Khudobin made 44 saves on 45 shots to get his first win as a Bruin. Khudobin's numbers read as him being 1-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and a .978 save percentage.

Game notes
Adam McQuaid played only seven minutes in the game as he didn't take anymore shifts in the second period and none in the third period. After the game Claude Julien said that McQuaid was "not feeling quite right."

The Bruins led the game in blocked shots 22-8. The Senators led the game in shots 45-27, faceoff wins 34-31 and hits 32-20.

Greg Zanon led the Bruins with 10 blocked shots.

Milan Lucic led the Bruins with 5 hits.

Onto the last one
Yup the next Bruins game will be their last one of the season and onto the playoffs they go. The Bruins are now 48-29-4 with 100 points. They will either play the Ottawa Senators or Washington Capitals in the first round of the playoffs. The next game for the Bruins is on Saturday in Boston as they host the Buffalo Sabres, who got eliminated from the playoffs tonight, at 4pm ET.
