Capitals goalie Braden Holtby showed he can play in the playoffs and made it known this won't be an easy series as some Bruins fans may have thought. The Bruins outplayed the Capitals for the first two periods but the Capitals woke up in the third period and outplayed the Bruins. The game would go to overtime and a new Bruins playoff hero emerged in Chris Kelly who scored the overtime winning goal for the Bruins.

Quick game summary
In the first period, no scoring happened.

In the second period, again no goals were scored. Tim Thomas only faced 7 shots through two periods.

In the third period, no one was able to score, sending the game to overtime.

In overtime, Tim Thomas made a save down one end of the ice and Chris Kelly took the puck down the other end, wound up and released a big slap shot that beat Holtby to win Game 1 for the Bruins 1-0.

As the Bruins players celebrated the win, apparently a pane of glass fell on David Krejci, most likely from fans banging on the glass. Word is that he is ok, hopefully he really is ok. That's why you don't bang on the glass.

Onto the next one
