Bruins vs Capitals game 2 summary

Alex Ovechkin crosschecks Dennis Seidenberg in the head with a two-hander, and Ovechkin got no penalty for it

The Capitals won Game 2 in the second overtime with a Nicklas Backstrom goal to even up the series 1-1. The Bruins looked sloppy at times and didn't manage to get many great scoring chances on Braden Holtby. It's already been said, but Bruins need to put traffic in front of Holtby and work harder to win this series. Right now the Capitals are outworking the Bruins and it's showing as Bruins coach Claude Julien said in the postgame.

As you can see in the picture to the left, Capitals Alex Ovechkin crosschecked Bruins Dennis Seidenberg in the head during the second period after a whistle. Ovechkin surprisingly didn't get a penalty for it.

NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan has already announced a hearing for another incident in a different game but nothing about this incident. So I guess that means this is ok to do, crosschecking someone in the head is ok. So let's see now, we've seen a player slam an opponent's head WWE style into the boards/glass (Predators Shea Weber on Red Wings Henrik Zetterberg) and now we see someone give a two-hand crosscheck to someone's head and no suspension for either. Keep doing a fine job NHL at protecting the players. Make sure to share your comments with @NHLShanahan on Twitter, but I doubt he even reads tweets he receives.
