Bruins start slow, finish strong but lose in shootout

The Rangers took the play to the Bruins in the first two periods and for the most part controlled the play as Henrik Lundqvist stopped everything he faced. It was 3-0 with twelve minutes left in the third period and then the Bruins came to life and managed to tie the game 3-3 and send it to overtime. The game would go to a shootout and Rangers captain Ryan Callahan would score the game winner.

Game notes
Tuukka Rask played in net for the Bruins and made 26 saves on 29 shots. Rask is now 8-1-2 with a 2.07 GAA and a .919 save percentage this season.

The Bruins led the game in shots 40-29, hits 32-31 and faceoff wins 37-27. The Rangers led the game in blocked shots 25-9. The Bruins and Rangers both went 0-for-4 on the power-play.

David Krejci led the Bruins with 5 shots. Milan Lucic and Shawn Thornton led the Bruins with 6 hits apiece. Patrice Bergeron went 14-4 in the faceoff circle.

Player notes
The Bruins announced earlier today that they signed 38 year-old forward Jay Pandolfo to a one-year, two-way contract. The contract is worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $350,000 at the AHL level. Pandolfo will have to clear waivers before he can play and it's possible a team may pick him up.
