Bruins drop 4th straight, lose 3-2 to Penguins

The Penguins were without Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and James Neal but they were still able to beat the Bruins 3-2 on Saturday, sending the Bruins to their 4th straight loss. The Bruins players held a players chat in the last few days and played much better today with some passion.

The Bruins had two fights in the first period which has been rare recently as Adam McQuaid took on Tanner Glass and Nathan Horton fought Jarome Iginla. Horton looked to hurt his hand or wrist in the fight and did not return to the game.

Tuukka Rask played in net for the Bruins and made 21 saves on 24 shots. Rask is now 17-9-4 with a 2.02 GAA and a .927 save percentage this season.

The Bruins led the game in shots 40-24, hits 35-30 and faceoff wins 43-29. The Penguins led the game in blocked shots 16-6. The Bruins went 1-for-4 on the power-play while the Penguins went 2-for-6.

Tyler Seguin led the Bruins with 8 shots. Nathan Horton, Shawn Thornton and Johnny Boychuk led the Bruins with 4 hits apiece. Dennis Seidenberg and Zdeno Chara led the Bruins with 2 blocked shots apiece.

Player notes
Bruins Milan Lucic was a healthy scratch and Carl Soderberg made his NHL debut. Soderberg wore #34 and had 16:10 of time, 0 shots, 2 PIMs and 1 giveaway.

Adam McQuaid took a low cheapshot hit from who else but Matt Cooke, and missed some of the game but came back later.
