Bruins lose Eriksson in win over awful Sabres

Some were saying that Wednesday night's game against the Buffalo Sabres could be a scary one as the Sabres have been playing awful this season, going 1-8-1 and winless at home, and the Bruins were playing their backup goalie Chad Johnson in his first game this season. Well it wasn't a scary game for the Bruins in regards to any of the above as they dominated most of the game but Sabres goalie Ryan Miller kept his team in the game for as long as he could. The scary part for the Bruins came almost six minutes into the third period when giant enforcer John Scott put a late cheap headshot on Bruins Loui Eriksson. Eriksson went down to his knees and hands, luckily he did not get knocked out and he did not hit his head on the ice, but he needed help to get off the ice. Eriksson would not return to the game while Scott got a 5-minute major and game misconduct. Scott will most likely have a hearing with NHL's Brendan Shanahan. Eriksson is staying over night in a Buffalo hospital. Watch the NBCSN footage of the hit below.

After the game, NBCSN's Mike Milbury goes on a rant about John Scott, Sabres coach Ron Rolston and the Buffalo Sabres organization.

Game notes
Chad Johnson played in net for the Bruins and made 14 saves on 16 shots. Johnson is now 1-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and a .875 save percentage this season. Johnson looked a little shaky at times in net and making saves, hopefully it's just first game jitters or whatever.

The Bruins led the game in shots 34-16 and faceoff wins 27-26. The Sabres led the game in hits 23-5 and blocked shots 18-10. The Bruins went 1-for-4 on the power-play while the Sabres went 1-for-3.

Player notes
Jordan Caron and Matt Bartkowski were scratched from the game.
