Bruins find a way and beat Leafs 5-2

Despite the craziness of yesterday's game and the recent call-ups, the Bruins played well and got help from their power-play while backup goalie Chad Johnson played solid in net and got the win against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Quick game summary
In the first period, Maple Leafs Peter Holland scored, making it 1-0 Leafs.

In the second period, Bruins Carl Soderberg scored his 4th goal of the season, a power-play goal, tying the game 1-1. Less than two minutes later, Bruins Torey Krug scored his 8th goal of the season, a power-play goal, making it 2-1 Bruins. Later, Bruins rookie Kevan Miller scored his 1st career NHL goal, making it 3-1 Bruins.

In the third period, Maple Leafs Jay McClement scored, making it 3-2 Bruins. Later, Bruins Jarome Iginla scored his 6th goal of the season, making it 4-2 Bruins. Late in the game, Leafs Dion Phaneuf boarded Bruins Kevan Miller from behind into the boards but no penalty was called on the hit... Wha...wha...what?? Miller left the game after the hit and didn't come back. Watch the hit below. With 11 seconds left in the game, Bruins Patrice Bergeron scored his 9th goal of the season, an empty-net goal, making it 5-2.

Injury notes
Injuries for the Bruins continue, as defenseman Dougie Hamilton left in the first period with a lower-body injury. After the game, Bruins coach Claude Julien said that Dougie Hamilton is out at least a week and Kevan Miller should be able to play in the next game.

Game notes
Backup goalie Chad Johnson played in net for the Bruins and made 30 saves on 32 shots. Johnson is now 5-1-0 with a 1.98 GAA and a .922 save percentage this season.

The Bruins led the game in shots 39-32 and blocked shots 23-15. The Maple Leafs led the game in hits 36-29 and faceoff wins 39-33. The Bruins went 2-for-3 on the power-play while the Maple Leafs went 0-for-4.

Patrice Bergeron and Jordan Caron led the Bruins with 5 shots each. Jordan Caron and Matt Bartkowski led the Bruins with 4 hits each. Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg led the Bruins with 6 blocked shots.

Player notes
Adam McQuaid, Johnny Boychuk, Shawn Thornton and Loui Eriksson were all out of the lineup.

Onto the next one
The Bruins are now 20-8-2 with 42 points and 1st place in the Atlantic Division. The next game for the Bruins is on Tuesday at the Calgary Flames at 9:30pm ET. It should be an emotional night for Jarome Iginla as it will be his first time back in Calgary since Calgary traded him last season.

Bruins Shawn Thornton will have an in-person hearing with Brendan Shanahan, which hasn't yet been scheduled, but sounds like Wednesday would be the earliest it would happen.

Toronto's Dion Phaneuf will have a disciplinary hearing with the NHL for his hit from behind on Bruins Kevan Miller.
