Shawn Thornton suspended 15 games

The NHL has suspended Bruins forward Shawn Thornton for 15 games for the incident on Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik on December 7th. Thornton will be available to play again on January 11th when the Bruins visit the San Jose Sharks.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Thornton will forfeit $84,615.45. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund. Source: nhl.com
