After 2 bad losses, Bruins beat Sharks

Last night's game didn't start well for the Bruins, as from the opening faceoff the Sharks controlled the play. In the second period, the Bruins played better, especially after the Kevan Miller vs Mike Brown fight. In the third period, Bruins Carl Soderberg managed to score the only goal of the game that would win it for the Bruins 1-0. Loui Eriksson and Shawn Thornton returned to the Bruins lineup and Eriksson recorded an assist on the only goal of the game. Tuukka Rask recorded his 5th shutout of the season, which leads the NHL.

Quick game summary
In the first period, no scoring happened.

In the second period, no scoring happened. Bruins Kevan Miller got into his 1st NHL fight with Sharks Mike Brown after Miller put a good hit on Brown. Miller got the decision in this fight.

In the third period, Bruins Carl Soderberg scored his 6th goal of the season, making it 1-0 Bruins.

Game notes
Tuukka Rask played in net for the Bruins and stopped all 26 shots he faced recording his 5th shutout of the season. Rask is now 22-11-2 with a 2.06 GAA and a .930 save percentage this season.

The Bruins led the game in hits 28-27. The Sharks led the game in shots 26-22, faceoff wins 40-25 and blocked shots 21-16. The Bruins went 0-for-3 on the power-play while the Sharks went 0-for-1.

Reilly Smith and Carl Soderberg led the Bruins with 3 shots each. Jarome Iginla led the Bruins with 6 hits. Matt Bartkowski led the Bruins with 3 blocked shots.

Johnny Boychuk did not play for personal reasons as some have said that his wife was having a baby. Matt Fraser was a healthy scratch. Justin Florek was sent back to Providence (AHL).

The Bruins are now 29-14-2 with 60 points and are 1st place in the Atlantic Division. The next game for the Bruins is on Tuesday when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs in Boston at 7pm ET.
