Bruins sign a few players and lose a few to free agency

During the month of July the Bruins have signed a few players and they have lost a few players to free agency.

Jarome Iginla has signed with the Colorado Avalanche, to a 3-year contract, reportedly worth $16 million ($5.5 million in the first two years, and $5 million in the final year).

Shawn Thornton has signed with the Florida Panthers, to a 2-year contract, worth $2.6 million.

Goalie Chad Johnson has signed with the New York Islanders, to a 2-year contract, worth $2.6 million.

The Bruins re-signed goalie Niklas Svedberg to a 1-year, one-way contract worth an annual cap hit of $600,000. He will most likely be Tuukka Rask's backup unless he doesn't perform.

The Bruins have signed defenseman Christopher Breen to a 1-year, two-way contract, worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $175,000 at the AHL level.

The Bruins have signed goalie Jeremy Smith to a 1-year, two-way contract, worth $550,000 at the NHL level and $80,000 at the AHL level.

The Bruins have re-signed defenseman Matt Bartkowski to a 1-year contract, worth a cap figure of $1,250,000.

The Bruins have signed forward David Pastrnak to an entry level contract.

On July 18th, the Bruins signed a few players: forward Jordan Caron was signed to a 1-year, one-way contract worth a cap figure of $600,000; defenseman Tommy Cross was signed to a 1-year, two-way contract worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $72,500 at the AHL level; forward Craig Cunningham to a 1-year, two-way deal worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $85,000 at the AHL level; forward Tyler Randell 1-year, two-way contract worth $575,000 at the NHL level and $70,000 at the AHL level; defenseman Zach Trotman to a 2-year contract (in year one the contract is a two-way deal worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $80,000 at the AHL level and in year two the contract is a one-way deal worth $650,000 at the NHL level); and forward Justin Florek to a 1-year, two-way contract worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $90,000 at the AHL level.

The Bruins have signed defenseman David Warsofsky to a 1-year, two-way contract worth $600,000 at the NHL level.

On July 24th, the Bruins announced that they hired Joe Sacco as Assistant Coach.
