Leafs beat Bruins 4-3 in shootout

Last night the Bruins tried to end 2014 on a high note with two points but ended up only one point as the Maple Leafs beat the Bruins in a shootout 4-3.

Quick game summary
In the first period, Maple Leafs Leo Komarov scored, making it 1-0 Maple Leafs.

In the second period, 17 seconds into the period, Bruins Carl Soderberg scored his 8th goal of the season, a power-play goal, tying the game 1-1. Less than a minute later, Maple Leafs James van Riemsdyk scored, making it 2-1 Maple Leafs. Later, Maple Leafs Phil Kessel scored a power-play goal, making it 3-1 Maple Leafs. Later, Bruins David Krejci scored his 5th goal of the season, making it 3-2. Less than three minutes later, Bruins Torey Krug scored his 7th goal of the season, tying the game 3-3.

In the third period, no scoring happened.

In overtime, no scoring happened.

In the shootout, Maple Leafs Mike Santorelli scored, Bruins Torey Krug scored and Maple Leafs Nazem Kadri scored to win the game.

Game notes
Tuukka Rask played in net and made 18 saves on 21 shots. Rask is now 15-10-4 this season.

The Bruins led the game in shots 28-21 and faceoff wins 36-27. The Maple Leafs led the game in hits 36-26 and blocked shots 22-10. Both teams went 1-for-2 on the power-play.

Patrice Bergeron led the Bruins with 5 shots. Milan Lucic and Matt Bartkowski led the Bruins with 4 hits each. Dennis Seidennberg led the Bruins with 5 blocked shots.

Jordan Caron, Matt Lindblad and Zach Trotman were scratched and didn't play.
