Bruins lose season opener 6-2 to Jets

After the Bruins season opener tonight, many fans on social media were saying that this is going to be a long season. If the Bruins keep playing how they did tonight against the Jets, then yes it's going to be a long season for them and for us fans.

The Bruins opened the game playing well in the first period, but after that it was all downhill as the Jets took over the game and capitalized on the large amount of Bruins mistakes. It doesn't get any easier as the Bruins host Montreal on Saturday.

Quick game summary
In the first period, Bruins David Krejci scored his 1st goal of the season, making it 1-0 Bruins.

In the second period, Jets Mark Scheifele scored, tying the game 1-1. Less than four minutes later, Jets Blake Wheeler scored, making it 2-1 Jets. Later, Jets Drew Stafford scored, making it 3-1 Jets.

In the third period, Bruins David Pastrnak scored his 1st goal of the season, making it 3-2. The momentum from Pastrnak's goal didn't last long as less than four minutes later, Jets Chris Thorburn scored, making it 4-2 Jets. Less than five minutes later, Jets Nicolas Petan scored, making it 5-2 Jets. With less than four minutes left in the game, Bruins coach Claude Julien pulled Tuukka Rask for an extra attacker but it backfired as Jets Alexander Burmistrov cleared the puck down the ice and it magically found the Bruins open net, making it 6-2 Jets.

Game notes
Tuukka Rask played in net and made 26 saves on 31 shots. Rask is now 0-1-0 with a 5.00 GAA and a .839 save percentage this season.

The Jets led the game in shots 32-31, hits 32-31, faceoff wins 30-29 and blocked shots 13-9. The Bruins went 0-for-2 on the power-play while the Jets had no power-plays.

Loui Eriksson led the Bruins with 5 shots. Jimmy Hayes, Matt Beleskey and Kevan Miller all led the Bruins with 4 hits each. Joe Morrow led the Bruins with 4 blocked shots.

Colin Miller, Tyler Randell and Max Talbot were scratched and did not play in this game.
