Gustavsson leads Bruins to 5-3 win over Islanders

On Friday the Bruins visited the New York Islanders and came away with a 5-3 win with goalie Jonas Gustavsson leading the way and the youngsters putting goals on the board.

Quick game summary
In the first period, Bruins Brett Connolly scored his 2nd goal of the season, making it 1-0 Bruins. Later, Islanders Josh Bailey scored a power-play goal, tying the game 1-1. Less than two minutes later, Islanders Casey Cizikas scored, making it 2-1 Islanders. At the same time of the goal, Bruins Adam McQuaid and Islanders Matt Martin dropped the gloves and had an ok fight (watch it below).

Late in the period, Islanders Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck put a double-hit on Bruins captain Zdeno Chara, which got Chara upset because Clutterbuck clearly targeted Chara's head.


In the second period, Bruins Joonas Kemppainen scored his 1st career NHL goal, tying the game 2-2. Less than three minutes later, Bruins David Pastrnak scored his 2nd goal of the season, making it 3-2 Bruins.

In the third period, Bruins Ryan Spooner scored his 2nd goal of the season, making it 4-2 Bruins. Later, Bruins David Krejci scored his 5th goal of the season, an empty-net goal, making it 5-2 Bruins. A little later, Islanders Thomas Hickey scored, making it 5-3.

Game notes
Jonas Gustavsson played in net and made 23 saves on 26 shots. Gustavsson is now 2-0-0 with a 2.50 GAA and a .896 save percentage this season.

The Bruins led the game in hits 46-36. The Islanders led the game in faceoff wins 27-25 and blocked shots 24-17.
Both teams had 26 shots each. The Bruins went 0-for-3 on the power-play while the Islanders went 0-for-2.

Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Brad Marchand led the Bruins with 3 shots each. Zac Rinaldo led the Bruins with 9 hits. Kevan Miller led the Bruins with 4 blocked shots.

Matt Beleskey, Max Talbot and Zach Trotman were scratched and did not play.
