Oilers beat Bruins in overtime 3-2

On Monday night the Bruins hosted the young Edmonton Oilers, hoping to extend their short winning streak. The Bruins would score late in the third period to tie the game and send it to overtime but once again the team not built for shootouts and 3-vs-3 play (the Bruins) would get beat, as the Oilers won 3-2.

Quick game summary
In the first period, Bruins Zac Rinaldo dropped the gloves with Oilers Matt Hendricks in a quick bout where no one looked to land much. This is the third time these two guys have fought each other in their NHL careers. Later, Oilers Jordan Eberle scored, making the score 1-0 Oilers. Later, Oilers Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored, making the score 2-0 Oilers.

In the second period, Bruins Matt Beleskey scored his 4th goal of the season, making the score 2-1.

In the third period, Bruins Brad Marchand scored his 15th goal of the season, tying the game 2-2.

In overtime, Oilers Andrej Sekera scored, winning the game 3-2 for the Oilers.

Game notes
Jonas Gustavsson played in net and made 21 saves on 24 shots. Gustavsson is now 5-2-1 with a 2.62 GAA and a .904 save percentage this season.

The Bruins led the game in shots 49-24, hits 36-30 and faceoff wins 40-37. The Oilers led the game in blocked shots 16-12. Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power-play.

Brad Marchand led the Bruins with 9 shots. Max Talbot, Landon Ferraro and Zac Rinaldo all led the Bruins with 5 hits each.

Joe Morrow, Tyler Randell and Zach Trotman were scratched and did not play.

The Bruins are now 16-9-4 with 36 points this season. The next game for the Bruins is on Wednesday when they host the struggling Pittsburgh Penguins, at 8:00pm ET.
