Vote for Bruins 7th Player Award

It's that time again Bruins fans, it's time to vote for your pick of who should win the Bruins 7th Player Award. You can vote on here. The top choices I think are: Milan Lucic, Chuck Kobasew, and Tim Thomas. My choice for the Bruins 7th Player Award is Milan Lucic. He has no doubt surprised everyone with how good he has played being a rookie at 19 years old and has passed everyone's expectations. So far this season Lucic has played in 57 games, has 7 goals (4 game winners) with 13 assists for 20 points. Lucic has 71 PIMs and a team leading 11 fighting majors.

Trade deadline today

With the NHL trade deadline today I didn't expect the Bruins to do anything, and it seems they have not as I haven't heard anything on TSN. But it looks like a move was made by another team that may help the Bruins. The Montreal Canadiens, who have beat the Bruins badly this season, have traded away goalie Cristobal Huet to the Washington Capitals for a second-round draft pick next season. Huet was a Bruins' killer, as he seemed to always play great against the Bruins. Now rookie Carey Price will take over the starting goaltending job in Montreal. Hopefully this helps the Bruins beat Montreal next time they play.

Patrice Bergeron skates

I didn't think I would be saying this right now, but injured Bruin Patrice Bergeron spent about ten minutes on Sunday and twenty minutes today skating on the ice. Some comments from Bergeron, (source):
"I felt good yesterday, and today I felt good again," Bergeron said at practice Monday. "After the second time in four months, it feels great."

"It's taking it day-by-day, and seeing how I feel at every workout, every time I step on the ice," he explained. "It's pretty much seeing how I react, and if I react well, we'll do the same thing the next day."

"It's tough for me to stop," he said. "I want to keep going, but I've got to take it easy obviously."

Any news like this about Bergeron is good. I still don't think he will come back this season and I'm hoping he gets fully healthy again before he does. I don't want to see him come back too soon and get re-injured. Bruins fans (including myself) wish Bergeron the best and get better.

Patrice Bergeron injury update

The has an article from today's paper by Stephen Harris with an update on Bruins' injured center Patrice Bergeron. Bergeron is hoping to come back this season, but I personally think it's kind of a long shot because of the severity of the injury, but if anyone can do it, it's Patrice Bergeron.

Bergeron took a small - but significant - step forward this week. He has been working out since Monday on the elliptical trainer, which basically combines a stair-stepper and a treadmill.

"It feels good so far," he said. "We're slowly but surely doing some more stuff. I started doing the elliptical for six minutes and now we're up to between eight and 12 minutes. It's getting there. It feels good just to do something, and to be around the players again and have a chance to see them more often. In my mood, I feel more happy. I want to do more stuff now.

"When you work out, at least there's something to look forward to the next day. You don't just get up and sit around, stay in bed all day. It feels like you're doing something."

Other Bruins Injury Updates
On Saturday night the Bruins play at the Toronto Maple Leafs. It also seems Bruins' defenseman Aaron Ward will be able to play Saturday even after sustaining a neck injury against the Penguins. Chuck Kobasew, who missed the game against the Penguins, might play against Toronto. Peter Schaefer still won't play because of a sliced bruised shin. Bobby Allen will play if one of the regular six defensemen cannot play.

Last few Milan Lucic goals

I'm a big fan of Bruins' rookie Milan Lucic so I thought I would post clips of the goals he scores this year. Here are two more. The first video below is of Lucic' goal in the 2007-08 NHL Young Stars game on January 26th. The second video below is Lucic scoring against the Ottawa Senators on January 31st, which was his 6th goal of the season.

Ference's big hit and fight vs Preds

If you missed the Bruins vs Predators game on Tuesday, January 29th then you missed a big hit and then beatdown by defenseman Andrew Ference. Ference layed out Predators' forward Martin Erat with a huge hit and then Scott Nichol came over and dropped the gloves with Ference. Ference then pounded Nichol down to the ice. Watch the fight below.

Bruins send Pascal Pelletier back to minors

The Boston Bruins sent forward Pascal Pelletier back down to the Providence Bruins (AHL) today. Pelletier played in 6 games with the Bruins but recorded 0 points.

Bruins beat Senators in nice win

The Bruins played great against the Ottawa Senators last night and got the 4-1 win. Tim Thomas really saved the Bruins with some spectacular saves and rookie Milan Lucic continues to show improvement with a goal, an assist, was +2, had 2 shots, and led the Bruins with 4 hits.

The Bruins better be ready for tomorrow night as they play the Detroit Red Wings.
