Ducks beat Bruins 6-2

It is frustrating being a Bruins fan as you don't know when the Bruins will actually show up and play hockey. Tonight, the Bruins didn't show up until the third period but they couldn't do much against a more hungrier and grittier Ducks team. The Bruins wound up losing 6-2 to the Ducks.

Quick game summary
In the first period, Bruins Zach Trotman scored his 1st goal of the season, making the score 1-0 Bruins. Later, Ducks Chris Stewart dropped the gloves with Bruins Torey Krug. Later, Ducks Corey Perry scored, tying the game 1-1. Later, Ducks Shea Theodore scored a power-play goal, making the score 2-1 Ducks.

In the second period, Ducks David Perron scored, making the score 3-1 Ducks. Later, Ducks Kevin Bieksa scored, making the score 4-1 Ducks.

In the third period, Bruins Zdeno Chara scored his 7th goal of the season, making the score 4-2. Less than a minute left, Ducks Ryan Kesler scored an empty-net goal, making the score 5-2. With 32 seconds left, Ducks Mike Santorelli scored, making the score 6-2.

Game notes
Jonas Gustavsson started the game in net, played the whole first period and then did not return. It was announced during the game that Gustavsson left after the first period due to illness and he was transported to Mass General Hospital for observation. Gustavsson made 14 saves on 16 shots, is still 9-3-1 and now has a 2.38 GAA and a .915 save percentage this season. Tuukka Rask played the second and third periods and made 19 saves on 22 shots. Rask took the loss in this game and is now 17-15-4 with a 2.49 GAA and a .917 save percentage this season.

The Bruins led the game in hits 20-15 and faceoff wins 34-31. The Ducks led the game in shots 39-34 and blocked shots 13-11. The Bruins went 0-for-4 on the power-play while the Ducks went 1-for-4.

Torey Krug led the Bruins with 5 shots. Zdeno Chara led the Bruins with 4 hits. Dennis Seidenberg led the Bruins with 4 blocked shots.

Joe Morrow, Tyler Randell and Zac Rinaldo were scratched and did not play.

The Bruins are now 26-18-5 with 57 points this season. The Bruins are now 11-13-2 at home this season. The Bruins are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games. The next game for the Bruins is next Tuesday (February 2nd) when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs, at 7pm ET.
