Bruins start good but fall apart

With Glen Murray and Marco Sturm back in the lineup, that made Stanislav Chistov and Petr Tenkrat as the healthy scratches. Chistov and Tenkrat haven't done much at all the past few weeks so I would also scratch them. Jeremy Reich kept his place in the lineup as he played well against the Capitals. I hope Reich stays in the lineup as he brings a physical presence that the Bruins need.

The Bruins played well in the first period against the Carolina Hurricanes but after that it all fell apart. After the first period the Bruins led 1-0. Brandon Bochenski scored his second goal in his second game as a Bruin. The Bruins had a lot of chances but couldn't capitalize on them.

Scott Walker vs Andrew AlbertsIn the second period the Canes weren't playing well and somebody needed to do something, so feisty right-winger Scott Walker no doubt instigated a fight with Andrew Alberts in front of the Bruins net after Tim Thomas had the puck. Walker came in dropped the gloves and started throwing punches at Alberts before Alberts knew what was going on. Alberts then dropped his gloves and gave some punches back to Walker. Walker threw more punches and looked to control most of the fight, but Alberts did throw some punches that might have landed. After the fight Walker went to the dressing room. I would give the edge though to Walker in this fight. What was strange though was that Walker didn't get the instigator as he should have. I don't know why the refs didn't give him one because he clearly instigated that fight.

After the Alberts-Walker fight it seemed to spark the Canes as they scored four unanswered goals in the second period. Ray Whitney scored three goals in a row to get the hat trick in less than two minutes. In the third period Bochenski scored another goal, his third in two games with the Bruins. Rod Brind'Amour scored for the Canes to make it 5-2, which was the final score.

The hits totals for the game had the Bruins with 19 and the Hurricanes with 16. The Bruins are now 24-25-4, and they play the New York Islanders (26-22-7) on Saturday.
