Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli announced yesterday that the Boston Bruins have signed young hard-hitting defenseman Andrew Alberts to a contract extension. Chiarelli had this to say about Alberts:
Last season Alberts led the Bruins in penalty minutes with 124 and looked to be one of the few bright spots the Bruins had last season in my opinion. It's good to see them sign a good young player that should grow into a better player in the coming seasons.
"Andrew is a young player with a lot of upside, and it was a priority of ours to get him signed to a multi-year deal this off-season. He is a big, tough and physical player who we think is only going to get better as he continues to develop as a NHL defenseman."
