Live game updates: Bruins vs Canadiens game 5

For game 5, the Bruins are dressing Phil Kessel and Andrew Alberts. Forward Jeremy Reich is a healthy scratch and Aaron Ward is out with an injury he suffered in the last game. I will keep updating this post as the game goes on. Bruins need to win to force a game 6.

Update at 7:22pm
Almost eight minutes into the first period and Montreal is getting most of the scoring chances. Tim Thomas is keeping the Bruins in the game. Phil Kessel looks like a boy against men out there as he is getting pushed around by Montreal players as in game 1. Those that wondered why he hasn't played, that's the reason in my opinion.

Update at 7:24pm
Marco Sturm gets called for interference and Sergei Kostitsyn for diving. The refs finally caught a Montreal player diving. It's been happening all series long.

Update at 7:27pm
Alexei Kovalev scores on a backhander to make it 1-0 Montreal. Thomas was screened and the puck went five-hole. Looked like a bad goal to me but Thomas was screened with quite a few players from both teams.

Update at 7:41pm
Mark Stuart gets a penalty for cross-checking. Montreal is now on the power-play.

Update at 7:46pm
The Bruins killed the penalty just barely. They had a good scoring chance afterwards but they still were not able to get it past Carey Price. It's now the end of the first period.

Update at 7:55pm
I'm watching the CBC telecast of the Bruins-Canadiens game and I'm watching the HNIC Coach's Corner segment with Don Cherry and they show highlights of the Milan Lucic-Mike Komisarek rivalry in the playoffs. But they ONLY show the hits that Komisarek had on Lucic. They didn't show not one hit by Lucic on Komisarek. Wow what homerism that is. Lucic had many clean hits on Komisarek during the series, especially the biggest hit of the series in game 3 (which they didn't show). What a joke.

Update at 8:18pm
Phil Kessel scores on the power-play to tie up the game.

Update at 8:36pm
Shawn Thornton drove to the net with the puck and got high-sticked by Mike Komisarek. Bruins are now on the power-play.

Update at 8:41pm
Shane Hnidy got called for a penalty as he skated to the Montreal net and pushed off Andrei Markov and Markov conveniently fell into Carey Price. The second period has ended.

Update at 9:05pm
Bruins came out with some good scoring chances. Kovalev had a semi-breakaway and missed the net. The Bruins have to be careful as you can just feel that Montreal will get a power-play soon. The Bruins just scored on a Carey Price mistake with the puck. Glen Metropolit with the goal. The goal went under review but it's a goal. It's now 2-1, Bruins with the lead.

Update at 9:06pm
Sergei Kostitsyn just got a hooking penalty and the Bruins are on the power-play. Getting a goal here would be huge for the Bruins.

Update at 9:09pm
Zdeno Chara scores on the power-play with a big slap shot. The puck looked to be deflected by Montreal's Bryan Smolinski. It's now 3-1, Bruins with the lead.

Update at 9:26pm
Zdeno Chara took a bad slashing penalty a few minutes ago but the Bruins managed to kill it. Now it looks like Glen Metropolit will get a high sticking penalty or something as Andrei Markov fell to the ice while going to the net. Actually Metropolit gets a roughing penalty as Markov falls to the ice as if he just got shot. Even the CBC broadcast said Markov did a nice acting job there.

Update at 9:28pm
Carey Price looks shaky now as Marco Sturm just scored a short-handed goal with a big slap shot from about the right faceoff dot. It's now 4-1 Bruins.

Update at 9:32pm
Vladimir Sobotka just scored on a wrister and Price looked bad on that goal. Could it be a rookie goal losing his confidence in the playoffs? Wouldn't be the first time something like that happens. It's now 5-1 Bruins.

Update at 9:37pm
It was dead quiet at Montreal as the clock ticked down. The Bruins win this one 5-1 and game 6 will be on Saturday at Boston. What a game. The Bruins have to play like this for the rest of the series if they want to win this series. It should be a good one on Saturday.
