Also today it was announced that the Bruins have signed former Montreal Canadiens forward Michael Ryder to a multi-year contract.
I'm not sure I like this move as Ryder had a bad season this past season. He was even scratched during some of the games vs the Bruins in the playoffs. He use to kill the Bruins so it's good he doesn't play for the Canadiens anymore. Hopefully he'll play better with coach Claude Julien once again as his coach.
Update on 7/4 @ 9:30pm
The deal is for three years at $4 million per season. I personally think that is a lot for Ryder. Hopefully he shows the Bruins that he is worth it.
The 6-0, 186 pound Newfoundland native has spent his entire four-year NHL career playing in Montreal, recording 99 goals and 108 assists in 314 games. 46 of his 99 goals have come on the power play, including a career best 18 power play strikes in 2005-2006.
Last season, Ryder tallied 14-17-31 totals while playing in 70 games for the Canadiens. He also appeared in four playoff contests for the team during the most recent postseason.
