With Vladimir Sobotka not able to play tonight due to the hit he took in the Thrashers game, the Bruins have recalled veteran Trent Whitfield from Providence (AHL).
Tuukka Rask is expected to start tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Whitfield has skated in 52 games with the Providence Bruins this year and ranks second on the team in goals scored with 17 (17-26=43 totals) and has registered 22 PIM.
