Bruins get 2nd pick in 2010 draft

Today it was announced that the Bruins will get the 2nd overall pick in the 2010 NHL draft. That's the first round pick from the Kessel trade. Thank you Toronto.

The Draft Drawing took place at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 13, with the Edmonton Oilers to make the first overall selection and the Florida Panthers to make the third overall selection in this year's draft. The Bruins – who acquired Toronto's first and second round picks this year in the trade for Phil Kessel – had an 18.8% chance of landing the first overall pick and a 60.8% chance of landing either the first or second overall pick.

Tyler Seguin (Plymouth/ Ontario Hockey League), Taylor Hall (Windsor/ Ontario Hockey League) and Brett Connolly (Prince George/ Western Hockey League) are ranked the top three skaters respectively in this year's 2010 NHL Entry Draft, according to Central Scouting.

The 18-year-old Seguin is the top-ranked North American skater rated by Central Scouting. He notched five goals and five assists in nine playoff games for the Plymouth Whalers in this season's 2010 OHL (Ontario Hockey League) playoffs, before being defeated by the Windsor Spitfires in four games in the Western Conference Semifinals of the OHL playoffs. The 6'1" 172-pound Brampton, Ontario native tallied 48 goals and 58 assists in 63 regular games for the Whalers this season.

The 18-year-old Hall, rated as the number two North American skater eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft according to Central Scouting, is currently a member of the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL. During the 2009-10 regular season with Windsor, Hall posted 40-66=106 totals and 56 penalty minutes in 57 games. The 6'1" 185-pound forward from Kingston, ON led the OHL during the regular season in assists with 66 assists and was tied with Tyler Seguin for the league lead in points with 106 points.

The 17-year-old Connolly, rated as the number three North American skater eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft according to Central Scouting, is currently a member of the Prince George Cougars of the WHL (Western Hockey League). During the 2009-10 regular season with Prince George, Connolly posted 10-9=16 totals and 8 penalty minutes in just 16 games due to injury. The 6'2" 181-pound forward from Campbell River, British Columbia registered 30-30=60 totals in 65 games during the 2008-09 season for Prince George.
