Bruins select Tyler Seguin

The Edmonton Oilers took Taylor Hall with the first overall pick and the Bruins just selected Tyler Seguin with their second pick in the first round of the NHL draft. We all knew it would be one of these two, and I'm hoping Seguin turns out to be the real deal. More information about Seguin is below.

Tyler, welcome to Boston. Thank you Toronto!

The Boston Bruins have picked forward Tyler Seguin with the 2nd overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Seguin is 6’1”, 172-pounds and has spent the past two seasons playing with the Plymouth Whalers in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). This past season Seguin led the OHL in scoring and had 48 goals and 58 assists for 106 points in 63 games while also compiling 54 penalty minutes. He shared the scoring title with fellow prospect Taylor Hall. The 18-year old from Brampton, Ontario played in nine playoff games for Windsor in 2010, scoring five goals and tallying five assists for 10 points. He played in 124 total games during his two years with Plymouth, recording 69-104-175 totals. Seguin then added 10-16-26 totals in 20 postseason contests. Seguin also won the 2009-2010 Red Tilson Trophy as the most outstanding player in the OHL and the 2009-2010 CHL Top Draft Prospect Award as the top eligible prospect for the NHL entry Draft from the Canadian Hockey League. NHL Central Scouting ranked Seguin as the number one prospect going into the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. The Bruins have seven picks remaining in this year's draft: in the second round (32nd and 45th overall), in the fourth round (97th and 105th overall), in the fifth round (135th overall), in the sixth round (165th overall), and in the seventh round (195th overall).
