Bruins beat Canadiens 4-2

In their first preseason game vs opponents other than themselves, the Bruins beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-2. Carey Price looked shaky while he was in net, letting in 4 goals on 10 shots. Tuukka Rask looked fantastic stopping 36 of 38 shots against the Canadiens, who after a bad first period, picked it up and the Bruins got caught running around a little bit. The Canadiens brought in Curtis Sanford half way through the game and he didn't allow any goals.

In the first period, Nathan Horton scored on a nice shot, assisted by Matt Bartkowski and Ryan Spooner. On the power-play, Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk scored on a rocket slap shot off a one-timer, assisted by Matt Bartkowski and Tyler Seguin. Patrice Bergeron scored in the first period as well on a nice deke, assisted by Daniel Paille.

In the second period, Patrice Bergeron put another sweet deke on Price to score his second goal of the game, an unassisted shorthanded goal. Canadiens' Maxim Lapierre scored a shorthanded goal, assisted by Tomas Plekanec and Josh Gorges. Tomas Plekanec scored a power-play assisted by Michael Cammalleri and Josh Gorges.

In the second period, Canadiens' Andrew Conboy and Bruins Adam McQuaid dropped the gloves and had a spirited fight. McQuaid got the better of this one, landing a punch on his way down to the ice with Conboy. Conboy looked upset and wouldn't let McQuaid go right away as the linesmen tried to break them up. If I find video of this fight online I'll post it on the site in the videos section.

It was cool seeing big Brian McGrattan sport the Bruins jersey, wearing #87. I'm hoping he somehow makes the team.

The next Bruins preseason game is later tonight (Thursday) at 7pm vs old pal Dennis Wideman and the Florida Panthers. Look for different players to be playing against the Panthers.
