Lucic may meet up with old enemy

I've been a fan of Milan Lucic ever since the Bruins drafted him. During his rookie season I heard about the back condition that he has, as a youngster he had Scheuermann's disease, a condition that causes the upper back to curve. As everyone knows when you're a teenager, if you're any different than most kids you will get picked on and made fun of. Some players did make fun of Lucic's condition but he responded to them (well at least one that I know of for sure).

The condition didn't affect his play until some opponents started to notice his back. Two years ago, Everett forward Kyle Beach shrugged his shoulders at Lucic in a hunchback style. The enraged Bruins prospect chased Beach, and several games later beat him up.

Last season, Kamloops defenseman Ryan Bender called Lucic a hunchback during a game and was slapped with a game misconduct, which was later changed to a 10-minute misconduct.

"You don't like to see that," Lucic said. "You hope guys are classier than that. But guys who do that have it coming to them. You just take care of it."

There was a rumor that Mike Komisarek, then with the Montreal Canadiens, once made a gesture of Lucic's condition in Lucic's rookie season, but I do not know if that is true or not.

In the above article it mentioned that Lucic got back at Beach by beating him up, which you can watch below. I'm not sure it should be called "a beating" but Lucic clearly won that fight.

Milan Lucic vs Kyle Beach on April 25, 2006

So what does all of this have to do with anything? Well after reading this article on NHL.com, with the Chicago Blackhawks trading away a lot of players due to the salary cap, Kyle Beach is going to get a good opportunity to make the team.

So I checked out the Bruins upcoming season schedule, and on March 29, 2011, the Blackhawks will be visiting Boston for their only meeting this upcoming season. It's a 7:30pm EST game and on Versus and TSN2 cable stations.

Now I don't know if they are still enemies now since all of that happened. But I'm sure if that happened to most of us, we wouldn't forget the person who made fun of a disorder we had. I know I'll be making sure to watch that late season game.
