Bruins beat Canes 3-2

Tonight Tim Thomas got his 25th win of the season in a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Thomas made 24 saves on 26 shots. Daniel Paille scored his first goal of the season in the second period. In the third period, Nathan Horton (his 13th goal of the season) and Patrice Bergeron (his 17th goal of the season) would score and the Canes couldn't tie the game up.

The Bruins led the game in shots 33-26 and faceoff wins 37-25.

In the first period, Milan Lucic dropped the gloves with Jay Harrison. If you remember, Lucic bloodied Harrison last season but this fight was nothing compared to their first one. Some punches grazed helmets but nothing seemed to fully land. Yeah you read that right, Lucic fought tonight. It's only his 3rd fight of the season.

Thomas is now 25-5-6, with a 1.82 GAA, and a .945 save percentage.

Mark Stuart was again a healthy scratch. You got to wonder if he'll be trade bait at the trade deadline. There are rumors of Senators defenseman Chris Phillips coming to Boston but you never know for sure with rumors.

The Bruins are 4 points ahead of Montreal in the Northeast division, with the same amount of games played.

Onto the next one
The Bruins next game is on Thursday against the Dallas Stars at Boston. The Canucks beat the Stars tonight so look for the Stars to come out strong. The Stars are at the top of their division so they shouldn't be taken lightly.

Two young Stars players who I think will be solid NHLers (if they aren't already) are James Neal and Jamie Benn (injured and probably won't play Thursday). Both play physical and can score. If you haven't seen Benn's fight against Jarome Iginla you may want to check it out.
