Bruins score 6 goals to beat Islanders

The Bruins got the win and 2 points they needed from this game to stay ahead of Montreal in the division (with Montreal losing to Edmonton as well last night).

In the first period, Blake Wheeler scored his 11th goal of the season, Mark Recchi scored his 11th goal of the season as well, and Gregory Campbell scored his 9th goal of the season to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead.

In the second period, the scoring would go back and forth and the period would end with the Bruins up 6-2. David Krejci (his 9th goal), Tyler Seguin (his 10th goal), and Milan Lucic (his 24th goal, a power-play goal) would all score in the period.

In the third period, John Tavares scored his 2nd goal of the game to make it 6-3 and that would be the final score.

Tuukka Rask played in net and made 34 saves on 37 shots. Rask is now 6-11-1, with a 2.90 GAA, and a .916 save percentage.

The Islanders led the game in shots 37-34, as the Islanders came on strong in the second period and the Bruins sat back a little with the lead. The Bruins dominated the faceoff circle going 36-17. The hit totals were head scratching, to me anyways, being 21-4 Islanders. Both teams had 14 blocked shots.

Notes from the game
Mark Stuart was a healthy scratch.

Adam McQuaid dropped the gloves with tough guy Zenon Konopka and had an ok fight with him but not much landed by both guys. This is the second time these two have fought this season.

Micheal Haley, the guy who people ripped for fighting Brent Johnson in the Penguins-Islanders brawl game last week, tried to start something with Gregory Campbell but Campbell kept his cool and let Haley get a 10-minute misconduct. If you want to spark your team go after the B's toughest guy Shawn Thornton not Campbell.

Onto the next one
The Bruins next game is tonight at the Ottawa Senators. Chris Kelly will probably make his Bruins debut tonight and it'll be against his former team.
