Bruins blow 3-goal lead, lose to Rangers

The Bruins had a 3-0 lead half-way through the game but then the New York Rangers woke up. They must have realized they needed these two points to get some more space between them and the Carolina Hurricanes. The Rangers then would score 5 unanswered goals (the 5th being an empty netter) to beat the Bruins 5-3. Tim Thomas looked good in the first period, but did not look good on the goals he gave up.

I'm just going to go over who scored for the Bruins, as I'm really disappointed in this loss. In the first period, Daniel Paille scored his 5th goal of the season. Paille is playing much better now and is making a case for a regular spot in the lineup during the playoffs. He could take Tyler Seguin's spot in the lineup if he keeps playing well (unless Shawn Thornton is unable to heal before the playoffs start). Nathan Horton would later score his 25th goal of the season.

In the second period, Chris Kelly scored his 1st goal as a Bruin, his 13th goal of the season.

Tim Thomas played in net and made 21 saves on 25 shots. Thomas is now 33-11-9, with a 2.02 GAA, and a .938 save percentage.

The Bruins led the game in shots 30-25 and faceoff wins 27-20. The Rangers led the game in hits 31-27.

Some notes from the game
Mark Recchi, Andrew Ference, and Adam McQuaid were all a -2.

Milan Lucic and Dennis Seidenberg each had a team-high 4 hits apiece. Seidenberg also had 5 blocked shots.

Patrice Bergeron went 10-5 in the faceoff circle.

The Bruins killed all four power-plays that the Rangers had.

Onto the next one
The Bruins next game is on Wednesday hosting the New York Islanders in Boston.
