The game did not start well for the Bruins as they fell behind 1-0 and were outplayed in the first period by Montreal.
In the second period, Ryder scored his 1st goal of the playoffs to tie the game up 1-1. Later, Montreal would score back-to-back goals to make it 3-1. Andrew Ference would later score his 1st goal of the playoffs to make it 3-2. After his goal Ference made a gesture that looked like he was giving the crowd the finger. The CBC broadcast caught this and CBC's Glenn Healy was outraged. Later Patrice Bergeron scored his 2nd goal of the playoffs to tie the game 3-3.
In the third period, Montreal would take a 4-3 lead. But later, Chris Kelly would score his 2nd goal of the playoffs to tie the game and the game would go to overtime.
In overtime, Ryder scored his 2nd goal of the game, and 2nd of the playoffs, to win it for the Bruins and tie the series 2-2.
Tim Thomas played in net and made 34 saves on 38 shots but he didn't look like a Vezina winner, again giving up lots of rebounds.
Montreal led the game in shots 38-35 and hits 27-19. The Bruins led the game in faceoff wins 30-28.
Notes from the game
Ryder and Kelly both had 3 points each. Ryder with 2 goals and an assist, while Kelly had a goal and 2 assists.
Bergeron with another strong game, with a goal and an assist, a +1, 7 shots, and went 17-12 in the faceoff circle.
Milan Lucic still has 0 points in the playoffs, a -2, with 11 hits, and 5 shots in 4 games. The Bruins need him and his linemates to step it up if they want to get past Montreal.
