Boring Bruins-Sabres game, Sabres shootout win

I think Friday night's Bruins-Sabres game was the most boring game I have watched all season long. There wasn't much hitting at all, not really any emotion throughout the game, not many scoring chances and it seemed dead inside the building. Buffalo would score in the second period to take a 1-0 lead. In the third period, Zdeno Chara scored his 9th goal of the season, a power-play goal, tying the game 1-1.

The game went to overtime and then to a shootout. In the shootout: Rask stopped Jason Pominville, David Krejci scored, Thomas Vanek scored, Miller stopped Tyler Seguin, Rask stopped Nathan Gerbe, Miller stopped Patrice Bergeron, Derek Roy scored, and Benoit Pouliot missed the net. Didn't Pouliot miss the net in a shootout earlier in the season?

Tuukka Rask played in net for the Bruins and can't get a win. It's been awhile since he picked up a win, but he played good on Friday. Rask made 26 saves on 27 shots. Rask is now 11-8-3 with a 2.05 GAA and a .929 save percentage so far this season.

Game notes
The Bruins led the game in shots 36-27. The Sabres led the game in faceoff wins 31-25 and blocked shots 22-12. Both teams had 20 hits apiece. That number of hits seems to high to me for this game.

The Bruins went 0-for-4 on the power-play while the Sabres didn't have a power-play.

Chris Kelly led the Bruins in shots with 6.

Dennis Seidenberg led the Bruins in blocked shots with 3.

Zdeno Chara and Johnny Boychuk led the Bruins with 3 hits apiece.

Onto the next one
The Bruins are now 36-20-3 with 75 points (1st place in the Northeast Division and 2nd place in the Eastern Conference). The Bruins next game at the Ottawa Senators later today (Saturday) at 7pm ET.

Ottawa is three points behind the Bruins with 72, but they have played three more games than the Bruins. Also news Friday was that Senators goalie Craig Anderson underwent surgery on his right hand after severing the tendon in his small finger while preparing a meal on Wednesday, so he won't be playing against the Bruins. The Bruins will face ex-Bruin Alex Auld instead. If the Bruins offense doesn't wake up and score against Auld, it's going to be a tough rest of the season.
