The Bruins once again didn't start the game well as Toronto controlled the play and got the better chances. That's the way it was for most of the game but there were a few times where the Bruins showed some life and played well but it wasn't enough as Toronto won game 2 and has tied the series 1-1. Watch the game 2 highlights video here. Game 3 will be in Toronto on Monday. The best part about last night was probably the pre-game with Boston Marathon hero Jeff Bauman inspiring the Boston fans by waiving the Boston Strong flag.
Quick game summary
In the first period, no scoring happened.
In the second period, Bruins Nathan Horton scored his 2nd goal of the playoffs, making it 1-0 Bruins. Leafs Joffrey Lupul scored a power-play goal tying the game 1-1. Later, Leafs Joffrey Lupul scored again, making it 2-1 Leafs.
In the third period, 53 seconds into the period, Leafs Phil Kessel scored, making it 3-1 Leafs. Kessel was so happy that he finally scored a 5-on-5 goal vs the Bruins that he celebrated as if he won the Stanley Cup. Bruins Johnny Boychuk scored his 2nd goal of the playoffs, making it 3-2. Leafs James van Riemsdyk scored, making it 4-2 with a great play to get the puck past Rask. That would be all of the scoring in the game.
Also in the third period, Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf threw a hit at Daniel Paille which looked like he caught Paille in the head with his shoulder. Phaneuf received no penalty on the play. Andrew Ference was suspended for game 2 for his elbow to Mikhail Grabovski's head so Phaneuf could be facing a suspension because it was a hit to the head, but with the NHL disciplinary system, who knows.
At the end of the period, Shawn Thornton and Mark Fraser dropped the gloves and had a spirited fight. Thornton got the better of Fraser in that one as he landed a few big punches. Watch the Fraser-Thornton fight here. For all of those complaining about the fight, please go watch tennis or golf. Leafs Leo Komarov started a fight with Bruins Chris Kelly near the end of game 1 and now Thornton started a fight with Fraser in game 2, so we're even now.
