The Bruins are moving onto the Eastern Conference Finals as they beat the New York Rangers in Game 5 today to end the series. The Bruins had the better chances throughout the game and played better to get the win. The Bruins 4th line again played great and got the eventual game winning goal.

Quick game summary
In the first period, we had a little rough stuff as Rangers Derek Dorsett was messing with Bruins Daniel Paille and Shawn Thornton came in. Thornton and Dorsett then dropped the gloves and had a spirited fight but neither really landed any punches as Dorsett made sure to hold on for dear life. Dorsett went down to the ice with Thornton on top and Dorsett wouldn't let Thornton go until the refs came in and it took a while to break them apart. A few minutes later, Rangers Dan Girardi scored a power-play goal, making it 1-0 Rangers.

In the second period, Bruins Torey Krug scored his 4th goal of the playoffs, a power-play goal, tying the game 1-1. Later, Bruins Gregory Campbell scored his 2nd goal of the playoffs, making it 2-1 Bruins.

In the third period, with 51 seconds left in the game and Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist pulled, Bruins Gregory Campbell scored his 3rd goal of the playoffs, an empty-net goal, securing the 3-1 win for the Bruins.

Game notes
Tuukka Rask played in net for the Bruins and made 28 saves on 29 shots. Rask is now 8-4-1 with a 2.22 GAA and a .928 save percentage in the playoffs.

The Bruins led the game in shots 32-29, hits 35-25 and blocked shots 16-13. The Rangers led the game in faceoff wins 29-28. The Bruins went 1-for-3 on the power-play while the Rangers went 1-for-2.

Jaromir Jagr led the Bruins with 4 shots. Milan Lucic led the Bruins with 6 hits. Zdeno Chara led the Bruins with 3 blocked shots.

Onto the next one
The Bruins have won the series 4-1 against the New York Rangers and move onto the Eastern Conference Finals and will play the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Of course we all know what happened during the season between these two teams when the Bruins had a deal for Flames Jarome Iginla but he declinded that trade and asked to be traded to the Penguins. This should definitely be a hard-fought long series. When the Bruins-Penguins playoff series schedule is released, I'll post it here on the blog.
