Tuukka Rask shines in 5-2 win over Islanders

On Thursday night the Bruins visited Johnny Boychuk and the New York Islanders and came away with a 5-2 win. It wasn't as easy as the score sounds as the Bruins had a two-goal lead after the first period but blew it in the second period as they were outplayed by the Islanders. Tuukka Rask made some great saves to keep the Bruins in the game and the Bruins were able to score a few goals to put the game away.

Quick game summary
In the first period, Bruins Reilly Smith scored his 10th goal of the season, making it 1-0 Bruins. Less than three minutes later, Bruins Patrice Bergeron scored his 12th goal of the season, a power-play goal, making it 2-0 Bruins.

In the second period, Islanders John Tavares scored, making it 2-1. Later, Islanders Michael Grabner scored, tying the game 2-2. With four seconds left in the period, Bruins Kevan Miller scored his 2nd goal of the season, making it 3-2 Bruins.

In the third period, Bruins Torey Krug scored his 10th goal of the season, making it 4-2 Bruins. Later, Bruins Milan Lucic scored his 10th goal of the season, an empty-net goal, making it 5-2 Bruins.

Tuukka Rask played in net and made 43 saves on 45 shots. Rask is now 21-11-7 with a 2.34 GAA and a .920 save percentage this season.

The Bruins led the game in faceoff wins 30-26. The Islanders led the game in shots 45-33, hits 48-35 and blocked shots 17-16. The Bruins went 1-for-1 on the power-play while the Islanders went 0-for-2.

Loui Eriksson led the Bruins with 5 shots. Gregory Campbell and Milan Lucic led the Bruins with 5 hits each. Zdeno Chara led the Bruins with 4 blocked shots.

Matt Bartkowski and Jordan Caron were out of the Bruins lineup.
