This signing was a bit of a head-scratcher as Bruins GM Don Sweeney announced that the Bruins signed defenseman Adam McQuaid to a 4-year contract extension through the 2018-19 season at an NHL cap figure of 2.75 million per year.

McQuaid has played a total of 283 NHL regular season games, has 9 goals and 34 assists for 43 points. He has a career plus/minus rating of +51 and has 430 PIMs.

McQuaid, who is a 5th/6th d-man, is injury prone, and has only 9 career goals, will be making $2.75 million per season, umm what? Is this the going rate for 5th/6th d-men? Don't get me wrong, I love the way McQuaid plays the game and that he stands up for teammates, but at that price, I think the Bruins are overpaying him.
