Landon Ferraro
I have not seen Landon Ferraro play but looking at his NHL and AHL career stats he seems to be more of a third or fourth line player. Could this pickup mean that forward Frank Vatrano will be out for longer than expected? Why would the Bruins pick up a player like Ferraro when they have players in Providence (AHL) who may be able to provide more than him?
Ferraro, 24, has skated in 10 games for Detroit this season and registered seven penalty minutes. For his NHL career, the 6'0'', 183 pound forward has skated in 17 NHL games and has tallied one goal and nine penalty minutes. He also appeared in seven postseason NHL contests.
At the AHL level, he has two 20-goal campaigns to his name after registering a career high 27 in 2014-15 with Grand Rapids as well as 24 during the 2012-13 season. In 270 AHL games with Grand Rapids, he has totaled 75 goals, 65 assists and 204 penalty minutes.

The Bruins also announced that defenseman Kevan Miller was placed on injured reserve.
