Senators beat Bruins 3-1

After last night's debacle vs the Sabres, the Bruins showed a better effort against the Ottawa Senators today despite losing 3-1. Bruins Torey Krug missed the game with an undisclosed injury and Bruins David Krejci left in the second period, so hopefully they both don't miss much more time, the Bruins really need their offense.

Quick game summary
In the first period, Bruins Jimmy Hayes instigated a fight with Senators Mark Borowiecki after Borowiecki laid out Bruins Frank Vatrano with a big hit, and Hayes wound up getting 2 (instigator), 5 (fighting major) and 10 (misconduct). On the ensuing power-play, Senators Mark Stone scored a power-play goal, making the score 1-0 Senators.

In the second period, Bruins David Krejci scored his 11th goal of the season, tying the game 1-1. Later, Senators Mika Zibanejad scored, making the score 2-1 Senators.

In the third period, Senators Mark Stone scored an empty-net goal, making the score 3-1 Senators.

Game notes
Tuukka Rask played in net and made 19 saves on 21 shots. Rask is now 13-9-3 with a 2.39 GAA and a .918 save percentage this season.

The Bruins led the game in shots 39-22, faceoff wins 33-20 and blocked shots 13-10. The Senators led the game in hits 47-39. The Bruins went 0-for-2 on the power-play while the Senators went 1-for-2.

Dennis Seidenberg led the Bruins with 6 shots. Zach Trotman led the Bruins with 10 hits. Joe Morrow led the Bruins with 3 blocked shots.

Torey Krug, Colin Miller, David Pastrnak and Tyler Randell were scratched and did not play.
